Why KC3?
The name KC3 has two meanings! It originally stood for Kang Chiao Chess Championship (now Championship x Club), while at the same time, it means King to the c3 square in chess notation.

The championship will be a Swiss-system tournament spanning a week. Players will be matched in the 1st round according to the Dutch system with the ratings submitted in their applications, while players with a similar number of points will be more likely to face off against each other in the next four rounds. Each player will play five rounds of chess with 15 minutes per player (one round per day).
Point System:
Win = 1 point
Draw = 1/2 point
Lose = 0 points
As per official rules, two repeated violations of tournament rules will result in an automatic loss. Example violations include but are not limited to:
- Touching a piece and moving another piece
- Changing your mind after making your move
- Not touching the clock with the same hand you used to make your move
- Removing opponent's pieces while he/she isn't looking
The winner will be decided based on the number of points gained after the five rounds are finished. If there are ties, small points will then be calculated through the Median-Buchholz, the Sonneborn-Berger, and the Progressive to determine the final standings.
